Turn on text messaging (SMS) for your store

Set up Rose so your store can text consignors and vendors who said yes. Texts come from Rosebot for your store. This article covers what you need, the TEXTING settings, who pays for sales texts and which staff can do what.

In RoseRose Pro + an SMS plan

What you need before texts go outRose

You can fill in the settings at any time. Rose only sends texts once all of these are in place:

Tip: The grey status line under TEXTING (SMS) tells you what is missing: SMS TEXTING IS COMING SOON, SMS TEXTING NEEDS ROSE PRO, NO SMS PLAN YET, TEXTING IS NOT CONNECTED ON THE SERVER YET (Consignor Connect is still setting it up), or SMS TEXTING IS ON when everything is ready.

Open the texting settingsRose

  1. Go to Administration β†’ SETTINGS.
  2. Scroll to the TEXTING (SMS) block. The status line and YOUR PLAN (or NO SMS PLAN) are shown there.
Tip: If the boxes are greyed out, you don't have the right to change them. Ask an administrator (see Permissions).

  1. Tick TEXTING - send texts to consignors and vendors who said START.
  2. Pick WHO PAYS FOR SALES TEXTS (see the next section).
  3. Pick SALES TEXTS: DAILY SUMMARY - one text a day on days they sold, or INSTANT - a text when something sells (needs the SMS INSTANT plan, or the consignor's own plan).
  4. Tick or untick SCHEDULE TEXT REMINDERS - one text before an appointment, pick-up or drop-off.
  5. Pick where staff text and read replies in TEXT CONSIGNORS AND VENDORS FROM: ROSEBOT CHAT (the Rosebot chat window; the new-text count shows above Rosebot), MESSAGES (Contracts β†’ MESSAGES; the count shows on MESSAGES at the top) or BOTH.

Questions

I turned texting on but nothing is being sent. Why?

Check the status line under TEXTING (SMS) in Administration β†’ SETTINGS. It names what is missing: Rose Pro, an SMS plan, or the connection Consignor Connect is still setting up. Also check that the consignor has START ticked and hasn't replied STOP.

Who will the texts come from?

Texts come from Rosebot for your store. Every text starts with your store's name, and the first text to a number (and every group text) ends with "Reply STOP to opt out".

I bought a plan but Rose still says NO SMS PLAN YET.

Rose checks your subscriptions when you sign in. Go to Subscription Plans and click REFRESH FROM HUBSPOT AND SQUARE. Make sure you paid with one of the e-mail addresses listed on that page.

Can I text consignors from other countries?

Not yet. Rose only accepts US mobile numbers (10 digits). Canada is planned for later.

Why can't I change the texting settings?

The boxes are greyed out unless you have the Users right "Administration: SMS texting settings (TEXTING)". By default only administrators have it.
