Save your store's brands
Save your store's brands once, and the BRAND field on items and take-ins suggests them as you type. Vendors entering items in myPortal see the same suggestions.
Open BRANDSRose
- Go to Categories in the side menu.
- Press BRANDS in the toolbar.
- The BRANDS window lists your saved brands A to Z, with a count of SAVED BRANDS. Use Search brands to find one.
- While the window is open, Rose looks through your items, sold items and paid items for brands you already use. See "Add the brands Rose finds" below.
Add a brandRose
- In the BRANDS window, type the brand in New brand.
- Press ADD or Enter. You see "BRAND SAVED".
- Brands can be up to 128 characters. Extra spaces are removed.
- Case doesn't matter: NIKE, nike and Nike are the same brand. If the brand is already saved in any case, Rose says so and keeps the saved spelling.
Add the brands Rose findsRose
In the full BRANDS window (from Categories), Rose lists the brands it finds on your items and sales that aren't saved yet, under BRANDS FOUND ON YOUR ITEMS AND SALES, with how many times each was USED.
- Brands used 2 or more times are already ticked. Tick or untick the others (or use SELECT ALL / UNSELECT ALL). Search found brands narrows the list.
- Press ADD SELECTED to save the ticked brands.
- Anything that isn't really a brand: tick it and press NOT BRANDS, then confirm. It won't be suggested again.
- Rose skips values that obviously aren't brands, such as numbers only, a single character, N/A or NONE.
- On a big store the search can take a moment. The message "Looking through your items, sold items and paid items for brands ..." shows while it runs.
Edit (rename) a brandRose
- In the BRANDS window, click the pencil next to the brand, or double-click the brand.
- Change the name in BRAND in the EDIT BRAND window.
- Press SAVE (or Enter). CANCEL leaves it as it was.
- Items already saved keep the old spelling. Renaming only changes what's offered when you type.
- You can't rename a brand to a name that's already saved. Rose tells you it's already saved.
Delete a brandRose
- In the BRANDS window, click the bin next to the brand.
- Confirm DELETE BRAND. You see "BRAND DELETED".
- Items already saved keep the brand. It just isn't offered any more.
- A deleted brand isn't suggested again. To bring it back, add it again by hand.
Use saved brands on items and take-insRose
- Open an item in Inventory (CREATE or ALTER) or add an item on a take-in in Take-ins.
- Type a letter or two in BRAND. Matching saved brands drop down and the rest of the name fills in.
- Pick one, or keep typing to change it.
- To save a brand that isn't in the list yet, press + in the BRAND field or press Enter.
- If you type a saved brand in a different case, Rose switches it to the saved spelling.
- The list icon next to + opens a small BRANDS window where you can add, edit or delete brands without leaving the item. Close it to carry on, and the drop-down updates.
- You don't have to save a brand to the list. The item is saved with whatever you typed in BRAND.
Brands in myPortalmyPortal
Vendors who add or change their own items in myPortal (CREATE ITEM / ALTER ITEM) get the same saved-brand suggestions in BRAND.
- Vendors can add a new brand with + or Enter. It's added to the store's list.
- Vendors can't edit or delete brands. Only the store can, in Rose.
- Consignors only view their items, so they don't use the BRAND field.

Questions
Does renaming or deleting a brand change my items?
No. Items keep the brand they were saved with. The saved list is only what's offered as you type.
What if Rose suggests something that isn't a brand?
Untick it, or tick it and press NOT BRANDS. It won't be suggested again. You can still add it by hand later.
Can I merge two brands, like "J Crew" and "J.CREW"?
There's no merge. Delete the spelling you don't want and keep the other. Items already saved keep the spelling they have.
Can vendors change my brand list?
They can add a brand from their item screen in myPortal. Only the store can edit or delete brands, in Rose.
I typed a brand but didn't press +. Is the item still saved?
Yes. The item is saved with what you typed. The brand just isn't added to the list.
